Project Overview:
Our team completed a new block paved driveway in Tonbridge Kent featuring a charcoal edging and an Autumn Mix block paving centre. The original driveway was worn and uneven, and poor drainage caused standing water during periods of heavy rain. The homeowner asked for a modern, practical and attractive driveway with a reliable ACO drainage system.
The completed driveway now provides a clean, level and beautifully finished surface with improved water management and a strong visual upgrade to the property.

The Process
Removal and Excavation
The previous surface was removed and the entire area was excavated to the correct depth. This created a clear and stable foundation ready for the new installation.
Installation of ACO Drainage
A new ACO drainage system was fitted across the front of the garage and extended along the side access area. The drains were connected to an existing outlet to ensure water would be diverted safely away from the house, resolving previous pooling issues.
Sub Base Construction
A solid MOT Type 1 hardcore sub base was supplied and compacted in layers. This created a strong foundation and ensures long term stability of the driveway.
Charcoal Border and Edging
Charcoal edging blocks were installed around the driveway and pathway. The dark border frames the paving beautifully and provides edge strength and definition.
Sharp Sand Preparation
A layer of sharp sand was added and screeded to create a level surface ready for the Autumn Mix block paving.
Autumn Mix Block Paving Installation
The Autumn Mix paving blocks were laid in a 45 degree herringbone pattern. This pattern is both strong and visually appealing, and the warm blend of colours creates a natural and welcoming finish.
The combination of the Autumn Mix centre and the charcoal border gives the driveway a modern and well balanced look.
Final Jointing and Compaction
Kiln dried sand was brushed into all joints and the driveway was compacted to lock the blocks securely in place. The final clean down completed the project with a smooth and professional appearance.
The Finished Driveway:
The new driveway has completely transformed the front of the property. The Autumn Mix block paving brings warmth and character, while the charcoal edging adds a crisp and modern outline. The ACO drainage system ensures excellent water control and protects the property from future drainage issues.
