Project Overview:
This dual-surface transformation project in Weavering, Maidstone involved the installation of a seamless, low maintenance chestnut resin driveway alongside a large-format Indian sandstone patio. The clients wanted to refresh their outdoor areas with materials that offered both durability and visual warmth, while also improving day-to-day practicality and kerb appeal.

Process:
Driveway Excavation & Base Preparation: The existing was excavated and cleared to a suitable depth. A Type 1 MOT sub-base was laid and compacted thoroughly to form a strong foundation for the resin-bound surface. Edging blocks in a soft blend of neutral tones were installed to frame the resin and define the boundary of the driveway.
Resin-Bound Surface Application: A chestnut-toned resin-bound aggregate was applied across the full driveway area. The blend was chosen for its natural appearance and slip-resistant properties. The resin was hand-trowelled to a smooth, level finish, providing a porous, SUDS-compliant surface that eliminates puddling and requires minimal maintenance.
Patio Excavation & Retaining Work: The rear garden patio area was excavated and graded to allow for multiple levels. New retaining brickwork was constructed to support stepped sections and to define the garden’s zones. These low walls also serve as subtle seating and planters.
Indian Sandstone Installation: High-quality Indian sandstone slabs in rich earthy tones were laid in a multi-size format over a solid mortar bed. The paving was arranged to follow the shape of the house and garden, incorporating a soft curved edge and recessed access covers to maintain a clean and consistent finish.
Finishing & Jointing: All paved areas were pointed with a durable jointing compound to prevent weed growth and create a neat appearance. Finishing touches included landscaping the surrounding turf, cleaning the new surfaces, and ensuring smooth transitions between levels and pathways.
