Step-by-Step Process:
Site Preparation and Excavation: The first step involved clearing the site, this included the removal of old, uneven surfaces, soil and debris. A mini excavator was used to dig to the required depth to ensure a solid foundation for the new driveway.
Sub-Base Installation: To provide a stable base, a high-quality sub-base using MOT Type 1 aggregate was installed, which was then compacted in layers to create a solid and long-lasting foundation.
Edging and Drainage Installation: Durable block paving was installed to define the shape of the driveway, as well as maintaining structural integrity. Additionally, proper drainage solutions were incorporated to prevent future water pooling and ensure efficient water runoff.
Laying the Block Paving: Charcoal blocks were precisely laid in a herringbone pattern, creating a modern look while also adding exceptional strength that will prevent future movement. A striking, contrasting border was also added to give the driveway a defined and polished appearance.
Jointing and Compacting: Once all the blocks were in place, kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints to lock the blocks together and prevent movement. A vibrating plate compactor was used to ensure the driveway was firmly set and the surface was level.
Finishing Touches: The final step involved cleaning the entire driveway, making sure it was free of excess sand and debris. We also applied a sealant to enhance the durability of the blocks and provide added protection against stains and weathering.
