Groundworks & Retaining Wall Construction: We began by carefully marking out the new patio footprint and excavating the area to the appropriate depth. Due to the sloped terrain, a robust red brick retaining wall was constructed to level the foundation and provide a strong boundary for the elevated patio extension.
Sub-Base Preparation & Patio Laying: A compacted Type 1 MOT sub-base was installed to ensure long-term strength and drainage. Over this, we laid a full mortar bed and began installing the calibrated Indian sandstone slabs in a multi-sized pattern. Each slab was hand-laid and positioned to ensure tight, clean joints and a seamless connection to the existing patio.
Finishing Touches & Jointing: To finish, the patio was pointed using a durable jointing compound to prevent weed growth and provide a neat appearance. The new space was cleaned and sealed, leaving behind a stunning, low maintenance surface ideal for outdoor dining, gatherings, or simply enjoying the garden views.
